day three! ryan is a freshman at houghton college in new york. and this list seriously makes me jealous. grr.

25 Awesome Things About College (Mostly about Houghton but some in general)

1. I get to choose when classes are.
2. I get to pick which professor I want.
3. My parents can’t tell me when to go to bed (well, I guess they can but I don’t have to listen).
4. At Houghton, there are 3 girls for every boy (cue “Surf City”, a la Pearce).
5. On a similar note, girls have low standards so even you have a chance.
6. Long distance relationships usually work in your favor when you’re not part of them.
7. I can organize my room as much as I want.
8. I don’t have to clean up my messes in the bathroom or the kitchen.
9. Class is sometimes totally cancelled for no apparent reason.
10. You live next door to all your friends.
11. You even live within like 2 minutes of all your friends that are girls.
12. Campus Activities Board-sponsored “Midnight Breakfast” that runs from 10-11:50 p.m.
13. College is so awesome that I can gloat and you will be sad!
14. Most buildings are open late.
15. The campus center is open 24/7 on the weekends.
16. I can go to class all morning, sleep in the afternoon, do homework in the evening and sleep again at night.
17. Procrastination is always okay because you’re used to not getting much sleep.
18. I’ve been functioning on 5 hours of sleep or less for almost every night since the beginning of January.
19. During finals week, you only have to study for like 12 hours for your tests but they give you the entire week off.
20. The music program is a conglomeration of the best people. So just take the best musician from your hometown and multiply by 150 and think how awesome that sounds.
21. Professors are often lenient about due dates (or actually times, i.e., if a paper is due on Monday and you have class at 8, they might not dock you points if you don’t turn it in until 5).
22. You have time to sit around and write lists of 25.
23. 2 words: Intra-campus mail. It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s mischievous!
24. You only have to have the same roommate for 7 months.
25. Every semester, you get like 4 weeks worth of breaks.
